Pirates News · Boys soccer aims for top seed in playoffs

The Oceanside High School boys soccer team is driving toward the Avocado League East with its convincing 3-1 win over Sage Creek on a chilly Friday night in John Carroll Stadium.

The Pirates (5-2-1 in league, 11-4-3 overall) took advantage of some prime opportunities in the second half. Trailing 1-0, Lee Soelberg took a pass from Dayne Morrison and headed into the net to tie the game at 1-1. Javier Camargo scored 12 minutes later on an unassisted goal and George Silva finished the scoring in the 67th minute with his 11th goal of the season.

Christian Martinez recorded three saves and stopped a penalty shot late in the second half.

On Wednesday night, the injury-depleted Pirates dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting San Dieguito. Ivan Rodriguez scored the lone goal for OHS.
