Pirates News · Pirates tame Panthers with defensive effort

And after 80 minutes, the defense finally rested.

The Oceanside High School boys soccer team recorded its eighth shutout of the season as the Pirates down Vista in Avocado League East action Wednesday night.

Goalkeeper Christian Martinez kept a clean sheet, but faced few challenges because of the defense in front of him led by Christian McElroy, Christopher Valdivia and Dominic Wicks.

The Pirates (10-3-2 overall), who sit atop of the Avo standings with a 4-1 record, got on the scoreboard twice within the first 10 minutes of the match. Javier Camargo found the back of the net on a pass from George Silva at the two-minute mark, and Carmargo added his second goal unassisted just five minutes later.
