Pirates News · National Signing Day hits campus Wednesday

Oceanside High School will celebrate six seniors on National Signing Day at lunch Wednesday in the Wally Molifua Gymnasium.

The first Wednesday in February is when student-athletes are able to official sign their letter-of-intent for an athletic scholarship to attend a college or university of their choice. National studies have said that only two percent of all high school athletes nationwide earn athletic scholarships in either NCAA Division 1, 2, 3 or NAIA schools.

The following athletes will sign their letters in front of family and friends and celebrate a short cake ceremony for their accomplishments:

Trejan Apodaca (football) Northern Arizona University

Andrew Bowman (swimming) UC San Diego

John Gibbs, Jr. (track & field) Sacramento State University

Kalani Hardyway (track & field) University of Idaho

Christopher Hunter (football) West Point

Christopher “Kiki” Laie (football) Southern Utah University
