Jonathan Wilson hit a go-ahead 3-pointer from the left corner and Justine Gandianco and Kameron Beachem sank clutch free throws in the final minute to give the Oceanside boys basketball team a 57-54 victory over visiting Sage Creek in Avocado League East action Wednesday night.

With the win, the Pirates (3-0 in league, 14-6 overall) are tied for first place in the Avo East  with El Camino (3-0, 15-5). The crosstown rivals battle for the league lead at 8 p.m. Friday night at the Army-Navy Academy.

Wilson found himself open off a inbound play underneath the OHS basket and calm nailed the trey with 1:12 remaining in the fourth quarter, which saw the lead sea-saw six times. Gandianco got a steal with 36.2 seconds remaining, draining one free throw. He missed the second, but Shawn Ramsey got the rebound and promptly called time out. Then, Beachem was fouled on the ensuing possession made one foul shot to seal the victory.
