Oceanside High School put five players on the first team All-Avocado League offense and defense in a vote of the league coaches Monday night at San Pasqual High School.
Leading the way on the first-team offense was running back Kavika Tua. The junior rushed for 1,521 yards on 163 carries and 15 touchdowns. Joining Tua on the first team was center Christopher Hunter, a three-year letterman for the Pirates.
The OHS defense, which was vastly improved from a year ago, put three players on the first team. Linebacker Jalen Ramsey was the Pirates’s leading tackler with 77, including 45 solo. Defensive end Kiki Laie was the team’s sack leader with 9.5 and tackles for loss 13.5. Trejan Apodaca anchored the secondary and led OHS with three interceptions. Defensive tackle Eric Russell earned second-team honors.
Third-team honorees included: guard Moises Ross, defensive end Taeden Washington, linebacker Damani Tu’ua, and linebacker Shawn Ramsey.
