The Oceanside High school football team turned in their cleats for whistles as the Pirates hosted a youth football clinic Thursday at John Carroll Stadium.
More than 100 youth athletes, ages 7-14, were put through a workout that was coordinated by the past and present OHS student-athletes.
“The Pirate Spring Football Clinic was a runaway success,” said varsity coach David Rodriguez. “We have 106 youth athletes from throughout the city. It gave our guys a great opportunity to show themselves as leaders and allowed them to give back to our community.”
The younger student-athletes were put through a simulated practice that were captained by current and former OHS players. The 1-hour clinic ended with a 7-on-7 competition.
