Pirates News · Boys track snags second place at CIF meet


The Oceanside High School boys track team put itself on the map with a second place finish at the CIF Division II Finals Saturday at Mt. Carmel High School.

The Pirates scored in nine different events to earn the runners-up trophy with 59 points. Cathedral Catholic won the title with 67 points.

The 4 X 400 relay team of Joseph Dipietro ,Trejan Apodaca, Jariece Graham, Anthony Nathan took the silver medal with a season best time of  3:26.83 .to bring home the runner up spot and Silver medal. Kaylen Austin earned a silver medal in the 300 hurdles (39.91) equaling his best time.
CIF Individual Champions were: Chris Hunter (shot put)  with a personal best (49-2), John Gibbs, Jr. (triple jump-47-4.75) and Kalani Hardyway (triple jump-39-0.50). Both jumpers will represent the San Diego Section  next weekend up in Fresno at Buchanon High School
