Pirates News · Pirates’ swinging well in tourney

Here are the results of the Oceanside High School varsity baseball team as they have been competing in the rain-soaked North County Conference Tournament:
FALLBROOK  9 OHS 3
The Warriors scored five unearned runs in the fifth inning to break open a tight game and coast to victory in the opening game of the North County Conference Baseball Tournament.  Vika Faasua’s hot bat contributed a pair of singles and a double and an RBI and Ronnie Harris contributed a single, double and RBI for the Pirates.
MT. CARMEL 9 OHS 1
A four run third and a three run fifth paced the Sundevils raced to an early lead and never looked back in downing OHS.  Anthony Beltran paced the Pirates with a pair of hits and a run scored.

VALLEY CENTER  1 OHS 0
An unearned run in the bottom of the sixth was the only run of the game as the Pirates Sammy Jimenez and the Jags Brandon Tolar matched each other pitch for pitch.  The Pirates couldn’t put any consistent offense together as Tolar scattered six hits, not allowing more than one baserunner per inning.  Anthony Beltran had a pair of singles and a pair of stolen bases.
OHS 10 MISSION VISTA 7
The Pirates bounced back from an early deficit to knock off the Timberwolves.  The Pirate’s offense came to life as Cannon Belew homered and doubled in two runs on the day.  Ronnie Harris tripled and singled, driving in two and stealing a base.   Anthony Beltran and Sammy Jimenez both had a pair of hits and an RBI.  Josh Morales pitched 4 and a two-thirds innings of effective relief to pick up the victory.  Vika Faasua pitched a perfect seventh inning to gain his second save.
