Pirates News · Girls soccer earns win; boys get draw with Panthers

The Oceanside High girls soccer team used its collective heads to defeat Vista Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the injury-depleted boys squad limped away with a 1-1 draw.

Kaylani Hardyway moved from her defender’s position and nailed a header into the goal for the game’s lone score as the Lady Pirates got a playoff-saving 1-0 victory. Taejsa Paopao, who signed her letter-of-intent to UC Irvine this week, recorded the clean sheet in goal.

On the boys side. Cesar Cruz scored the only goal for the Pirates, who clinched the Avocado League East title last week, and are closing in on a top-four seed in the CIF Division II playoffs.
